Macomb County MSU Extension Offering Master Composter Online Course

Clinton Twp., MI - MSU Extension (MSUE) is offering a six-week Master Composter course on Wednesdays, October 14 through November 18, 2020, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. using Zoom technology.

With more homeowners adding plants to make their outdoor spaces more attractive during this pandemic, how to handle the increased fall yard waste will be important. Composting is a natural way to reduce yard waste that needs disposal while improving your lawn and garden and saving time, money and energy.

The $55 course fee covers 12 hours of instruction by MSU staff and local compost professionals and the Master Composter resource notebook. A certificate of completion will be given upon completion of the course.

The Master Composter course covers:

  • Compost basics
  • Bin and site selection
  • Composting systems
  • Compost chemistry
  • Michigan legislation and local ordinances
  • Vermicomposting (Worm)
  • Yard waste reduction
