Shop Local Christmas In July Contest In Macomb County

Mt. Clemens, MI - Macomb County has announced the return of its Shop Local Macomb campaign for a Christmas in July initiative.

From July 16 through July 25, organizers are asking the community to shop or dine locally for a chance to win one of 10, $150 gift cards provided by First State Bank. Businesses associated with each winner will receive a $1,000 grant as well.

“The last 16 months have been extremely challenging for our independently owned and operated businesses, so we are bringing back one of our most popular programs to encourage our community to support them,” said Vicky Rowinksi, director, Macomb County Planning and Economic Development. “Our small business retailers and restaurants are an integral part of our economy and they make Macomb County a great place to live, work and play. This campaign is a reminder to shop, dine and promote local across the board to ensure these businesses continue to thrive.”

To enter the Christmas in July contest, patrons are asked to take a photo of their local shopping or dining experience (a selfie in front of the store, in the store, making a special purchase, a plated meal, etc.) and enter it through the Shop Local Macomb online portal. On July 26, 10 entries will be drawn to win a $150 gift card, and the business named in the winning entries will be given a $1,000 grant.

Businesses interested in promoting Christmas in July can download a flyer and hang it in their storefront, by the register or pass it out to patrons. They can also share posts via the Make Macomb Your Home Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.

Shop Local Macomb and Christmas in July is an initiative of Macomb County in partnership with First State Bank, Macomb County Chamber, Sterling Heights Regional Chamber, Anchor Bay Chamber, Eastpointe-Roseville Chamber, Greater Romeo Washington Chamber, and Richmond Chamber of Commerce.
