MI Dept Of State Suspends License Of Vehicle Dealership In Detroit

Detroit, MI - The Department of State has suspended the license of a Detroit vehicle dealership for failing to provide dealership records for inspection as required by law.

Pioneer Automotive LLC, 21511 Grand River Ave., owned by Aaron Lamont Brown, was served with a summary suspension Jan. 29 after attempts on Jan. 17 and 21 to inspect the dealership’s records were unsuccessful. During both attempts, the regulation agent found the business locked and no employees or vehicles on the premises.

In addition to not producing the required records for inspection, the dealership allegedly operated outside of the business hours on file with the Secretary of State’s office. Since the summary suspension was ordered, department staff has learned that vehicle sales are continuing, with four temporary plates having recently been issued.

The suspension remains in effect until Brown meets with the department and provides the requested records for inspection. Brown also may request an administrative hearing to contest the suspension and may regain his license if he can show he’s complied with the law. Additional administrative actions also are possible.
