Woodward/8 Mile Bridge Project Concludes Print E-mail
Friday, 10 August 2007
Metro Detroit Traffic NewsDetroit, MI - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has completed an extensive bridge rehabilitation project at the intersection of M-1 (Woodward Avenue) and M-102 (Eight Mile Road) on the Detroit/Ferndale border.

This $17 million investment included rehabilitating the tri-level structure that carries Woodward Avenue traffic over Eight Mile Road.

As a part of this project, the bridges received new decks and roadway pavement from Jewell to Winchester on Woodward Avenue, and from Englewood to Fair on Eight Mile Road. In addition, the bridges received safety upgrades, and the surrounding area received extensive aesthetic and drainage improvements.

"Cooperation and community involvement were instrumental in rebuilding this historic bridge and intersection. It has many unique features that will provide for safe travel while maintaining its historical appearance and beauty," said Dennis Cooper, MDOT resident engineer.
