Detroit, MI - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced the availability of a new Web site designed to keep Detroiters updated on the progress of the Ambassador Bridge Gateway Project. Work on the project is scheduled to begin this summer and continue through December 2009.
The link is available at http://www.michigan.gov/gateway.
The new Gateway Web page includes a map of project stages; a project area photo gallery, frequently asked questions, an artist's drawing of the proposed Bagley Street pedestrian bridge; a presentation about the Gateway Project to the Detroit City Council, and links to the Mexicantown Community Development Corporation, Detroit Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Ambassador Bridge Web sites. More information will be added as the project continues.
The Gateway Project is a major economic development project connecting area freeways to the Ambassador Bridge and Detroit's Mexicantown neighborhood. It includes: reconstructed freeways and a new interchange at 1-75 and 1-96; a state-of-the-art pedestrian bridge across 1-75/I-96 connecting east and west Mexicantown; a redesigned Ambassador Bridge Plaza that will improve safety and ease traffic.
