Traffic on I-96 will be maintained at all times. During peak hours, Monday through Friday, three lanes will be maintained in each direction. Lane closures can occur weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., overnight from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., and on weekends from 8 p.m. on Fridays to 5 a.m. on Mondays. The Kensington Road bridge will be closed starting March 4, and all traffic will be detoured utilizing adjacent interchanges. For bridge work on Pleasant Valley Road, one lane will be maintained with a temporary signal during construction. Work on the Pleasant Valley Road bridge will start later this summer. All work as part of this project is expected to be completed by November 2009. To help notify motorists of traffic slowdowns and delays, and to communicate various construction staging, temporary Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) components will be used with this project, including traffic cameras and changeable message signs. For updates on this project, go to the list of statewide lane closures on the MDOT Web site at www.michigan.gov/drive. Motorists also can subscribe to I-96 e-mail alerts through the MDOT Web sit at www.michigan.gov/mdot. |
