Woodhaven, MI - Work continues on the rebuilding of northbound and southbound I-75 in southern Wayne County as contracting crews prepare for the eventual traffic shift between West Road in Woodhaven and Gilbraltar Road in Flat Rock.
Scheduled to begin Saturday, Jan. 13, two lanes of traffic will be maintained on southbound I-75 from West to Gilbraltar roads. This single lane closure is needed in order to adjust lane striping and to install a temporary barrier wall. Southbound I-75 will remain two lanes until the end of January, when it is expected that northbound and southbound I-75 traffic will be sharing the southbound side of the freeway with two lanes maintained in each direction. "Shifting traffic to the southbound side of I-75 will allow us to begin the bridge replacement work that is included in this project," said Kimberly Avery, manager of MDOT's Transportation Service Center in Taylor. Crews will work on replacing the bridges that carry northbound I-75 over Grand Trunk Western Railroad, the Brownstown Creek culvert and Van Horn Road. The traffic shift is expected to remain in place until mid-July 2007. All lanes of northbound and southbound I-75 will be open to traffic by November 2007. |
