Detroit, MI - The Detroit Recreation Department invites you to "Walk Detroit" as it hosts five walks during the month of August at recreation facilities throughout the city.
"Walking is crucial to a healthy lifestyle, which is why many of our renovated parks now have walking paths," said Lawrence C. Hemingway, Detroit Recreation Department Director. "We encourage all residents to take part in at least one of our walks this summer as we continue our strong tradition of promoting physical activities to sustain good health."
“Walking is part of my Movement for Life Initiative which encourages not only exercise, but also healthy eating habits and all around lifestyle,” said Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.
The schedule is as follows:
