AG To File Emergency Appeal For Robert Bobb Print E-mail

Metro Detroit School & Education NewsLansing, MI - Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox announced he will file an emergency appeal on behalf of Detroit Public Schools Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb in the wake of a Wayne County Circuit Court ruling that significantly and improperly limits Bobb's authority under state law.

Cox said that his office will first file an emergency motion at the Wayne County Circuit Court asking for a stay of its ruling so that he can pursue the emergency appeal to the Michigan Court of Appeals.  That appeal will be filed later this week.

Cox feels the ruling wrongly limited Bobb's authority under state law and will ask the Court of Appeals to review the ruling.

"Robert Bobb not only has my support and that of thousands of Michigan parents and students, but the support of state law.  We will fight the status quo to ensure Mr. Bobb can get back to making the bold, sweeping changes that are necessary to fix our education system and give our children hope for the future."
