Thursday, 25 October 2007
Metro Detroit Health NewsMt. Clemens, MI - It’s National Radon Action Week, and the Macomb County Health Department reminds residents that it provides free home radon test kits and radon prevention information.

Radon is a naturally occurring invisible odorless gas that is usually harmless when dispersed outdoors. When trapped in buildings, however, radon can be harmful and can cause lung cancer in humans, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

Free radon test kits for homes are available at the Macomb County Health Department offices in Mount Clemens, 43525 Elizabeth Road; and Warren, 27690 Van Dyke Ave.

For more information about radon or testing, call the Health Department at 586-469-5236 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or visit www.macombcountymi.gov/publichealth/EH/Radon.htm.
