Woodruff, a native of Michigan, sustained a TBI in January 2006 while on assignment in Iraq when his vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb. His injury is exemplary of the injuries sustained by thousands of United States military service members in the current wars.  Woodruff's presence at this year's BIAMI State Conference reinforces his commitment to educate Americans about the challenging reality of recovery from a TBI and what life is like for a new recruit to the ranks of TBI survivors.

The largest conference on brain injury in the U.S., the BIAMI State Conference offers educational sessions for TBI survivors and their families as well as allied health-care professionals who work in the field of TBI. The Conference is designed to provide those who have been affected by TBI, both survivors and caregivers, with information on the most leading-edge brain injury treatment and therapies.

Attendees will have access to a wealth of knowledge, information, and services for TBI survivors through workshops sessions that address the complex aspects of living with a TBI and exhibits by professionals in the brain injury field.

In addition to the sessions, the conference will offer two other keynote sessions. Brigadier General Carol Ann Fausone of the United States Air Force will address the importance of providing optimal care to veterans returning with TBI through the enhanced collaboration of the Defense Department, private care facilities, and the communities in which the veterans live. Motivational speaker Tim Richardson of Total Development Resources, Inc., will offer inspiration for TBI survivors and their families by encouraging them to reach beyond the physical world and embrace other highly valuable, opportunities.
