"It's not just the business community that opposes the service tax," said Sarah Hubbard, vice president of government relations for the Detroit Regional Chamber.  "The voters clearly understand the negative impact it will have on Michigan's economic competitiveness."

Other findings show a strong 57 percent majority of voters oppose the action of the Michigan Legislature to solve the state's budget deficit by expanding the sales tax to some services and raising the income tax.  A 50 percent majority favor the budget cut component of the plan, including 33 percent who strongly favor it.

The statewide EPIC - MRA poll of 623 Michigan likely presidential primary voters has a margin of error +/-4 percent.
