Metro Detroit Community NewsMt. Clemens, MI - Macomb County Community Services Agency (MCCSA) seeks walkers and donations for its 18th annual Walk for Warmth. Funds raised assist low-income families, individuals and senior citizens facing heat shut off or those in need of furnace repair or replacement.

The 3-mile Walk for Warmth is Saturday, Feb. 16, beginning and ending at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, 48115 Schoenherr Road, Shelby Township. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m.

Walkers register and have a continental breakfast the morning of the event and then walk up to 3 miles in Shelby Township. Transportation is available if a walker is unable to complete the route.

Each walker must have a minimum pledge total of $10.

All walkers who raise more than $500 in pledges are eligible for top prize gift certificates in amounts relative to the pledge amount raised. Walkers must turn in all their pledges the day of the walk to be eligible for gift certificates.

Walkers are treated to lunch when they return and are eligible for door prize drawings.

Funds also are raised through sponsorships from local businesses, churches and individuals. Donations may be mailed to MCCSA–Walk for Warmth, 21885 Dunham Road, Suite 10, Clinton Township, MI 48036. Checks should be made out to MCCSA–Walk for Warmth.
