Household Hazardous Waste Collection In Warren Print E-mail
Sunday, 04 May 2008

Metro Detroit Community NewsMt. Clemens, MI - The Macomb County Health Department and the City of Warren are conducting a household hazardous waste collection from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10.

The collection will be held at the Warren recycling center, 25601 Flanders St.

Macomb County residents may drop off unwanted or unused household chemicals, pesticides and herbicides. Automotive products (motor oil and oil filters, gasoline, battery acid and fluids), garden products (pesticides, poisons, sprays and dusts) and household products (oven cleaners, pool chemicals, photography chemicals, fluorescent tubes, household batteries, oil based paint and solvents) will be accepted.

One free environmentally friendly fluorescent tube or compact fluorescent light, per household, will be exchanged for any fluorescent tube delivered.

Unwanted medications from residents also will be accepted in nondescript containers such as a plastic bag. Only non-narcotic medications will be accepted.

The following items will not be accepted: smoke detectors, latex paint, antifreeze, explosives, ammunition, flares and narcotic medications.

All materials, except medications, should be labeled or kept in their original containers. Do not mix chemicals or transport leaking containers.

For additional information, contact the Macomb County Health Department’s Household Hazardous Waste Hotline at 586-466-7923 or visit http://www.macombcountymi.gov/publichealth/EH/HouseholdWaste.htm.
