| Detroit Yard Waste Collection Begins May 1st |

Detroit, MI - The Detroit Department of Public Works (DPW) officials issued a reminder to residents that the City will begin collecting yard waste in May. In the meantime, residents should take their yard waste (leaves, grass clippings, and twigs) to one of six drop-off locations.
Until the May collection begins, residents can drop off yard waste at any of the drop-off locations open to Detroit residents only. The locations are open Tuesday - Saturday from 8:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. (April - October).
Davison Yard - 8221 West Davison All yard waste must be placed on the curb at least six feet from the Courville container in biodegradable paper bags or a personal garbage can. DPW will not collect yard waste in plastic bags. Residents who set out yard waste more than 24 hours before their scheduled pick-up will be subject to a fine. The yard waste collection program will last through the first week of December (weather permitting). DPW YARD WASTE COLLECTION GUIDELINES DO place yard waste at the curb by 7 a.m. on the weekly trash collection day at least six feet away from your Courville container. DO NOT put yard waste out more than 24 hours before weekly collection day. DO place yard waste in biodegradable paper yard bags, which can be purchased at a local hardware or grocery store. Residents also have the option of placing yard waste - not in bags - in a personal plastic or metal garbage can (not to exceed 32 gallons) that will be emptied into the truck. DO put branches and twigs less than two inches thick into bundles not to exceed four feet in length. Do not tie the bundles. DO NOT place yard waste in a Courville trash container. DO NOT put yard waste in plastic bags. The bags will not be collected, and a fine will be issued.
