National Labor Leaders To Address Michigan's Business Community Print E-mail

Metro Detroit Business NewsDetroit, MI - The Detroit Regional Chamber announced United Auto Workers (UAW) President Ron Gettelfinger and International Brotherhood of the Teamsters General President Jimmy Hoffa will give keynote addresses during the 2007 Mackinac Policy Conference from May 30 to June 2.

"The Mackinac Policy Conference is Michigan's premier public-policy gathering," said Tammy J. Carnrike, Detroit Regional Chamber COO.  "Having the top leadership from the Teamsters and UAW gives us a unique opportunity to engage in productive dialogue between labor and management about the role of the unions in a global economy," Carnrike continued.

The Mackinac Policy Conference is an annual public-policy forum attracting 1,700 participants and the top business, community, political and media leaders from across Michigan.

Other featured speakers include:

--  Craig R. Barrett, chairman of the board, Intel Corporation and Michael J. Critelli, executive chairman, Pitney Bowes Inc. on how business can lead the transformation of health care in America.
--  William Clay Ford, Jr., executive chairman, Ford Motor Company on transforming the domestic automotive industry and the Detroit Region.
--  The Honorable Michael Wilson, Canadian Ambassador to the United States on safe and open borders for the free flow of international commerce.
--  Michael Gallis, president, Michael Gallis and Associates and Dr. John D. Kasarda, director, Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise on turning the Detroit Region into an international logistics hub.
--  Charlie Cook, editor and publisher, The Cook Political Report and Stuart Rothenberg, editor and publisher, The Rothenberg Political Report on the 2008 presidential election.
